Miguel Braganza Celebrates Thirty Years In Theatre

Originally from the Philippines, Miguel Braganza II, Walter Terry scholar in the dance performance and choreography program at Harvard University in the ‘80s, and assistant to Tony Award-winning director John Dexter in the original Broadway production of “M. Butterfly” from 1988-1990, joined the cast of the U.S. and international productions (Germany, Canada, UK, and Portugal) of Cameron Mackintosh’s mega musical “Miss Saigon” for 14 years: a feat that made him feel so blessed, and has prompted him to donate his time, talents, and resources by teaching young and up-and-coming artists,  build libraries, and promote arts programs both in New York and in the Philippines to this day.

One of the highlights of Rose Pacia LaBelle’s year long reign as Mrs. Kalayaan 2013 was visiting her hometown of Luyang, Cauayan, Negros Occidental.



She was welcomed with open arms and became an instant local celebrity. Her visit to her alma mater became nostalgic when she met with former teachers, mentors and classmates who are part of the faculty. “A sudden flood of memories came back! I remember being a little girl eager to learn and discover the world. I still see that old tree where we would eat our lunch and seek shade during hot or rainy days”, she enthused.

During her short visit, she donated an air condition unit to the Faculty Room and gave out shirts for students to use. 

"I see my self in every child here. I was one of them. I hope that in a small way, I can inspire them to strive hard and reach their goals in life.".
